A Heartbreaking Discovery: Man Charged with Felony Animal Cruelty in Myrtle Beach
In a shocking and disturbing incident, a Myrtle Beach man has been arrested and charged with felony animal cruelty after multiple dead dogs were found discarded in a dumpster. The investigation that led to his arrest has left the community in disbelief and outrage.
On November 15th, animal control officers in Myrtle Beach were horrified to discover three lifeless pit bulls – an adult and two young puppies – stuffed into a plastic container brimming with excrement and urine. The scene was both heartbreaking and alarming, prompting a thorough investigation.
Six weeks later, on December 26th, animal control officers were summoned back to the same dumpster. This time, they found the body of a young 10- to 12-week-old pit bull puppy abandoned in a plastic container nearby. The authorities determined that the puppy had succumbed to illness and drowning.
The case seemed unsolvable, but relentless detective work led the officers to a breakthrough. A discarded receipt discovered with one of the puppies on December 26th became a crucial clue. Using store cameras and city traffic and street surveillance footage, the officers traced the receipt back to a 33-year-old man named Raahkeem Orland Young.
On January 7th, Young was arrested and charged with four counts of felony animal cruelty and four counts of failure to properly bury animals. He was later released on a personal recognizance bond, but a trial date has yet to be set.
The Myrtle Beach Police Department is actively investigating this case and urges anyone with information to contact the Animal Control Unit at 843-918-1331 or email [email protected]. Anonymous callers are welcome. Reference Report number 22-024360 or 22-022412.
This horrific incident serves as a chilling reminder of the importance of animal welfare. The senseless brutality inflicted upon these innocent creatures is a shameful act that deserves swift and severe punishment. The charges against Young reflect the community’s deep concern for animal rights and its determination to hold those responsible for their suffering to account.
As the case progresses, we hope that justice will prevail and that these innocent victims will not be forgotten. The charges against Young are serious and carry significant consequences. If found guilty, he could face substantial imprisonment and fines for his heinous actions.
We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspected cases of animal cruelty. By working together, we can create a safe and compassionate community for all creatures, great and small.
