Meet Taboo, the feline master thief who’s leaving her mark across West Yorkshire. This 12-year-old black and white beauty has a unique penchant for collecting gloves, socks, underpants, and shoes from unsuspecting residents.
Her exploits have become so notorious that Taboo’s owner, Sandra Danskin, has resorted to sharing pictures of the stolen goods on social media, inviting neighbors to reclaim their lost property. But Taboo is a cunning burglar, rarely caught in the act and showing no signs of slowing down.
Mrs. Danskin, a night shift worker, often finds herself greeted with an eclectic assortment of loot upon returning home. “I come back to find all sorts of things, from socks and underwear to mop heads and kitchen rolls,” she says. “One morning, she brought back half a dozen eggs, still in their box, but sadly all broken.”
Taboo’s neighbors have joked about changing their locks and sharpening their defensive tactics. They’ve even suggested that Sandra train her notorious feline to distinguish between ordinary items and high-end valuables like Rolex watches.
Sandra suspects Taboo’s thieving habits may stem from her stealthy nature. She often sneaks into homes through open doors or pilfers clothing from unsuspecting clotheslines. So far, Taboo has only been caught once, when a vigilant neighbor noticed her attempting to liberate a T-shirt from a clothes dryer.
But Taboo’s antics don’t end there. This feline burglar has a peculiar fondness for matching pairs. “If she brings back a sock, she’ll always go back and get the matching one,” Sandra explains. “I have a box filled with her stolen treasures, and I post photos of them on Facebook so people can claim their belongings.”
Originally living with Sandra’s daughter, Gemma, Taboo eventually made her way to Sandra’s home after Gemma grew weary of her kleptomaniac tendencies. With three other cats in the household, Taboo found herself fitting right in.
And she’s not one to keep her successful heists a secret. Sandra says, “Whenever she brings something back, she sits outside and makes this high-pitched whining noise to let me know. I’ve tried talking to her about it, but she refuses to change her ways.”
Undeterred, Taboo continues her thieving escapades, bringing home countless pairs of gardening gloves and leaving Sandra baffled by her feline’s curious compulsion. “I’ve never heard of a cat doing anything like this before,” she says. “And she shows no signs of stopping.”
However, Taboo is not the only cat burglar in the annals of feline history. Charlie, the Klepto-Cat of Bristol, became famous for stealing toys from neighboring homes a few years back. It seems that tuxedo cats may possess a particular affinity for this unique brand of mischief.
Sandra can’t help but find amusement in her cat’s unusual behavior. She shares Taboo’s adventures on social media, delighting her followers with this feline’s charming audacity. So, if you live in West Yorkshire and find yourself missing a pair of socks or a stray glove, keep an eye out for Taboo. This master thief may just be the culprit behind your missing belongings.
