Meet Duke, the four-legged charmer who had his human companions yawning in boredom!
Duke, a four-year-old canine companion, recently made headlines after his former family couldn’t handle his lack of excitement. They returned him to The Animal Foundation, a Las Vegas-based animal shelter, claiming he was “too boring.”
But don’t let that fool you! The shelter staff knew there was someone out there who would appreciate Duke’s laid-back demeanor. They shared his story online, and within hours, he had found a warm and loving foster home.
According to the shelter, Duke’s previous family complained that he spent most of his days napping and rarely greeted them with enthusiasm when they returned home. They compared him to a teenage hibernating in their bedroom.
But for Sue Marshall, Duke’s foster mom, his sleepiness is not a problem at all. “He is doing well,” Marshall told USA Today. “He climbed up on the sofa with me last night and put his head in my lap.”
Despite his love for naps, Marshall emphasizes that Duke is a true sweetheart who adores attention. She is already smitten with him and is working towards making their bond permanent.
Duke’s story went viral, attracting comments from people who couldn’t believe someone would return a dog for being too boring. “Boring is the best!” one person exclaimed. “Those people didn’t deserve him.” Another said, “Duke sounds like the perfect dog!”
Some criticized Duke’s previous family, suggesting that Duke might not have been getting enough stimulation or enjoyment in his old home. “Maybe they weren’t fun and he was unimpressed,” one commenter mused.
But for Duke, his new chapter has begun, where he’s surrounded by people who love him just the way he is. He may not be the most energetic dog, but his gentle spirit and love of cuddles make him an irresistible companion.
As his foster mom, Marshall is grateful that Duke came into her life. “I’ve always wanted a lazy, calm lapdog,” she said. “And that’s what he is.”
Duke’s story reminds us that every animal deserves to be loved and accepted for who they are. He may not be the most active dog, but he’s a wonderful companion who brings joy and comfort to those who care for him.
