Abandoned Pit Bull Finds Sanctuary with Newborn Pups
Tragedy struck in a bathroom stall at Tacoma’s Point Defiance Park when a heartbroken pit bull and her 11 newborn puppies were ruthlessly abandoned. The mother, later named Oolong, was discovered tied to a suitcase, her body weak and emaciated. Inside the suitcase, her helpless pups lay trembling, their cries for warmth piercing the silence.
A kind-hearted Samaritan stumbled upon the heartbreaking scene and immediately contacted the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County. The Good Samaritan took on the noble role of fostering the entire canine family as they underwent much-needed veterinary care.
The tiny pups, barely a week old, were diagnosed with strangles, a hereditary condition that threatened their well-being. They were given proper treatment to combat the facial swelling and skin lesions.
The staff at the Humane Society bestowed upon the puppies adorable names inspired by coffee and tea: Coconut, Peppermint, Venti, Chai, Earl Gray, Macha, Chamomile, Macchiato, Mocha, and Caramel. Each name brought a touch of sweetness to the bitter circumstances they had endured.
While Oolong and her pups are making strides in their recovery, their journey is far from over. The Humane Society faces significant expenses in ensuring proper care and a healthy future for the canine family. They are humbly requesting donations to alleviate the financial burden.
Despite the cruel abandonment, Oolong exhibits an unwavering spirit of resilience and affection. She warmly embraces human companionship, demonstrating her capacity for love despite the trauma she has suffered.
The authorities remain clueless as to the identity or motive of the individuals responsible for this heartless act. The fate of Oolong and her puppies hung in the balance for too long, but thanks to the compassionate efforts of the Good Samaritan and the Humane Society, they are now on the path to a brighter tomorrow.
