Imagine the joy when Theo-Will McKenna, a Welshman, was reunited with Artie, his beloved cat who had vanished for an incredible 12 years!
As a 17-year-old Theo-Will left for university, leaving Artie behind. Heartbreak struck when Artie escaped and vanished without a trace. For months, Theo-Will searched tirelessly, but his hope dwindled.
Yet, in 2024, fate took a miraculous turn. A gray and white cat appeared in a backyard in Connah’s Quay. It turned out to be Artie, still sporting his microchip. The vet reached out to North Clwyd Animal Rescue, who posted his story on Facebook.
A friend of Theo-Will’s spotted the post and alerted him. At first, Theo-Will couldn’t believe his eyes. The skinny and bedraggled cat barely resembled the Artie he once knew. “It had been 12 years—I thought no cat could survive that,” he said.
Artie underwent medical treatment to restore his health. Despite the challenges of 12 years on the streets, he was determined to find peace in his golden years.
Theo-Will’s other cat was initially cautious, but they were gradually introduced and their bond grew. “He’s purring up a storm now,” Theo-Will shared.
To ensure Artie’s well-being, Theo-Will launched a GoFundMe campaign for his ongoing medical expenses. Every purr and cuddle is a testament to their extraordinary reunion and the unwavering love between Theo-Will and his long-lost companion.
