Nestled in the vibrant town of Faribault, Minnesota, lies Furball Farm, an extraordinary outdoor haven that welcomes feral cats with open arms. Founded by the compassionate Julie Maverts, this shelter is a sanctuary for cats who have faced challenges making them difficult to adopt.
Julie’s vision was to create a space where feral cats could thrive, away from the confines of walls and shelters. The outdoor structure boasts acres of green spaces, climbing lattices, and catwalks, offering a stimulating and life-enriching environment.
Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by friendly volunteers who dedicate their time to tending to the cats’ needs. With gentle care and affection, they have transformed these once-unapproachable animals into loving creatures who adore their human visitors.
“We believe that even cats who may not be adoptable deserve a chance to experience love and happiness,” Julie explains.
The outdoor sanctuary provides cats with the opportunity to bask in the sun, chase after butterflies, and enjoy the fresh air they were meant to inhabit. It’s a place where they can feel safe, protected, and loved.
Julie’s unwavering dedication and the support of generous donors have enabled Furball Farm to offer low-cost spaying, neutering, flea treatments, and de-worming treatments. It’s a testament to their belief that every cat deserves a healthy and fulfilling life.
Visiting hours are between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. daily, and volunteers are always welcome to lend a helping hand. Whether you have two hours or twenty, your contribution can make a significant difference in these cats’ lives.
At Furball Farm, cats are not seen as nuisances but as cherished members of the community. They are given the dignity and respect they deserve, and they thrive in the natural environment that has been lovingly created for them.
