Kendal and Shaun, a Canadian couple, initially considered a dog but were captivated by the curious antics of two rescued rats at their local shelter. Before they knew it, they had welcomed Kronk and Kuzko into their home, and it turned out to be the best decision they ever made.
Rats, like other social creatures, thrive on mental stimulation. Inspired by a study showing reduced stress in rats that learn new skills, Kendal and Shaun embarked on teaching their furry friends some extraordinary tricks. Among these was driving tiny cars.
Shaun’s father gifted them two mini electric cars, equipped with levers for steering. In a matter of days, Kronk and Kuzko mastered the art of driving, using the middle lever to navigate forward and the side levers to turn.
Their driving skills weren’t just about entertainment. As Shaun explained, “Their ability to visualize their surroundings is remarkable, just like humans when they drive.”
Kendal added, “It’s amazing how deeply they experience the world around them.”
